Explore Speaker Series: The 11000ers of the Canadian Rockies

April 18 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

On April 18, 2019, at 7pm in the Canmore Civic Centre, we are pleased to welcome the second of our Explore Speaker Series guest speakers.

Bill Corbett will be presenting:

The 11000ers of the Canadian Rockies

A slideshow about the highest mountains in the Canadian Rockies, specifically the 56 or so that are above 11,000 feet in height. What makes these peaks special? Why, from a geological perspective, are they this high? Why do a surprising number of people want to climb them all? Through pictures and words, we’ll also journey through the wilderness to some of these mountains, and I’ll relate the trials and triumphs of trying to reach their summits.
