For over 10,000 years, the Îyârhe (Stoney) Nakoda have called the Bow Valley home. Students will learn about their language, culture, and traditions with one of our Stoney Nakoda cultural interpreters.
Learn more about the Stoney Nakoda – their language, culture, and traditions – with an emphasis on place and identity.
This program can be adapted to meet a variety of curriculum objectives, including:
- 1.2.1 Appreciating how stories and events of the past connect us to the present and recognizing how Indigenous communities are integral to Canada’s character.
- 2.2.2 Appreciating how Indigenous people have influenced the development of our community.
- 4.2 and 5.2 Understanding the stories, histories and people of Alberta and Canada.
Location: Canmore NWMP Barracks | Seasonsonal – May and June, September and October
Length: 90 minutes
