Bow Valley Nature Camp
Join us at the Historic Barracks for a fun-filled camp where kids explore the natural wonders of the Bow Valley through a mix of outdoor adventures and creative indoor activities. Campers will learn about local animals, birds, plants, geology, and waterways through fun, hands-on activities. Whether your child is an aspiring naturalist, artist, gardener or just curious about the world around them this camp provides an opportunity to learn more about our local environment.
Activities include:
- Nature walks and animal tracking
- Bird watching and plant ID scavenger hunts
- Rock painting, nature mobiles, and eco-crafts
- Games and movement-based nature activities
Dates: July 7-11, August 11-15
Time: 9:00am-4:00pm (drop off 8:30-9am; pick up 4-4:30pm)
Ages: 6-10
Cost: $295 per week ($250 for Canmore Museum family memberships)
Location: NWMP Barracks
What to bring: Lunch, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, outdoor clothing
Museum Explorers Camp
Go behind the scenes of the Canmore Museum as a junior curator and explore fossils, artifacts, and the science of conservation. Campers will get to learn about the different items in our collection, how they’re cared for and the artistry that goes into making an exhibit. Join us for the opportunity to learn directly from Museum experts. It’s a week of hands-on exploration, creativity and fun you won’t want to miss!
Activities include:
- Handle and investigate real prehistoric fossils
- Artifact investigation and mini-exhibit creation
- Behind-the-scenes tours and art conservation games
- Exploring history and storytelling through hands-on crafting activities
Dates: July 21-25, August 18-22
Time: 9:00am-4:00pm (drop off 8:30-9am; pick up 4-4:30pm)
