PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP WITH ROBERT LEMERMEYER

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Join us for a special photography workshop with Robert Lemermeyer, the photographer behind our current temporary exhibit, UP HIGH: The Healing Adventures of Robert Lemermeyer. Robert will share his creative journey and techniques, offering insights into the logistics of combining photography with hiking, capturing expansive and breathtaking shots, enhancing your photos through editing, and recommending essential gear. He will also share useful tips and tricks he has developed over the years.

Participants are encouraged to bring their cameras and are welcome to ask Robert questions after the workshop. While basic photography skills won’t be covered in detail, foundational questions are welcome afterward.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Born in 1966 in Edmonton Alberta, Robert Lemermeyer discovered photography as a young boy.  With an architect father, a photographer uncle, and most importantly, a darkroom in the basement of his home, nothing was foreign about a camera, a roll of film, and the magic the two produced together.

Later, Robert honed his photographic skills at Edmonton’s Northern Institute of Technology, at workshops in New York, and through studies at the Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary. Then, assignments came from The Globe and Mail, Azure, L’Architecture d’ Aujourd’hui, EnRoute and Fairmont Magazine. This work, and many other assignments, provided Robert the opportunity to photograph Africa’s majestic animals, St.Petersburg’s historic canals and Japan’s mysterious Shinto shrines.

At present, Robert is the owner of Lemermeyer Inc. in Calgary – a studio with an artistic focus on the Canadian Rocky Mountains. His most recent exhibition titled Relief: A Transformative Journey Through the Rockies premiered at the Bateman Gallery in Victoria, British Columbia in 2022.
