In 2022, the Canmore Museum embarked on the first phase of a three-phase heritage project called “Uncovering Canmore’s Heritage”. In the first phase, a context paper will be written that explores the social, economic and architectural history of Canmore across historical eras. Phase I also identifies places of historical value to the Canmore community.
We invite you to join heritage planner and project consultant, Jeanie Gartly, on February 9 at 7:00 pm to learn more about the project and review whether the major historical themes, eras of development, and places of interest identified to date are correct and determine what other places need to be added to the places of interest list.
Light refreshments will be served. The event is free to attend.
Phase II focuses more on the significance of the area known as Chuwapchipchiyan Kudi Bi to the Îyârhe (Stoney) Nakoda, including place names, places of archeological significance, and places of cultural and historical interest. Phase III is the development of the Canmore Heritage Strategy and Heritage Program.
