Soon the weather will turn and the snow will come, but before then let’s celebrate the golden larches and sweater weather that signify a Bow Valley Fall. For October, I have picked some museum products that embrace fall and will help you get the most out of the short lived season.
- Amazing Stories: Ghost Town Stories of Alberta: Abandoned Dreams in the Shadows of the Canadian Rockies by Johnnie Bachusky – $9.95 Spooky season has arrived so celebrate with a nice pumpkin spice latte and ghost story. This collection contains short stories that can easily be read in small blocks of time when you need a quick break.
- Don’t Waste Your Time in the Canadian Rockies The Opinionated Hiking Guide by Craig Copeland & Kathy Copeland – $64.95. Fall is my favourite time of year for hiking as I tend to overheat and burn in the summer. Although fall does not last long in the Rockies, it is absolutely gorgeous. This opinionated hiking guide gives you all the information you need to pick the best hikes for yourself and includes a great selection of shoulder season hikes that are perfect for October.
- Speaking Our Truth: A Journey of Reconciliation by Monique Gray Smith – $29.95. Reconciliation is a process that starts with listening and learning to the perspectives and stories of Indigenous peoples. This easily accessible book provides the context needed to participate in the process of reconciliation. I recommend this book for adults and children over the age of 10 and think it would be a great book for a family to sit down and read together.
- Mrs. Clark’s Pumpkin Pie Candle in a Jar – $15. This candle truly smells like fall and is my favorite of the candles we stock.
